 Saint Louis Chapter

Welcome to the National Society of Arts and Letters , founded in 1944 as a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to discovering and encouraging talented young artists.    

The Saint Louis Chapter holds five annual meetings, which include a presentation or performance by a noted arts professional, and every spring there is a presentation by Chapter winners in the Annual Competition.

Through national and local chapter competitions, the NSAL:

• Awards excellence with prizes of up to $10,000 in the National Career Award Competition that rotates every year among the topics of art, dance, drama, literature, music, and musical theatre.  The competition for 2013 will be Art (Printmaking).  Chapter Winners will receive prizes of $2,000 (first place), $1,000 (second place), or $750 (third place.)  Applicants must be between 18 and 29 years old as of May 2013.  For the 2012 Competition Rules and Application Form, click on the link above.  Next deadline for applications: February 2013

Gives annual national Winston Scholarships in Art and Voice of up to $5,000 each.  Chapter winners receive $250.  Applicants must be between 16 and 22 years old on February 1, 2013.  For the 2012 Brochure, Application Form, and Suggestions for Applicants, click on the link above.  Next deadline for applications:  February 2013

Provides assistance up to $1,000 for young artists through Chapter Artistic Support FundsApplications are reviewed upon receipt.
